The building spans eight floors above ground level with a sky bar at the top overlooking the city and the IJ . There is a parking garage below ground level. The construction consists of a concrete basement, concrete columns and slabs on the ground floor and first floor with a wooden supporting structure above. The hotel rooms are prefabricated outside the construction site and hoisted on location. The building has a floor area of 16,500 m² and is energy neutral.
The history of the area as a port and the link with Jakarta can be found in an artistic intervention on the east facade of the building. The silhouette of a VOC ship can be recognized in perforated aluminum plates .
In 2019, the building was awarded the audience award at the presentation of the Amsterdam Architecture Prize 2019. The jury praised the friendly and sustainable experience of the building and the courtyard through the use of lots of greenery and wood.
